3000 negatives from the Theater Museum collection digitized

The “Open Kurbas: Digital Collection” project has digitized 3000 negatives from the archives of the Berezil Artistic Association and Berezil Theater and other theaters that Les Kurbas worked with.

One of the images is a rare shot of Berezil in Kyiv. On the photo we see composer Anatolii Butskyi (left), set designer Vadym Meller (center), and director Les Kurbas (right). This team collaborated to create three important productions of the Kyiv period: Georg Kaiser’s Gas, Upton Sinclair’s Jimmie Higgins, and Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
